Safety Check

CHILDREN & FIRE
Children under five are naturally curious about fire. Many play with matches and lighters. Tragically, children set over 20,000 house fires every year. Take the mystery out of fire play by teaching your children that fire is a tool, not a toy.

Tuesday, 22 March 2005 09:39

Shortly after 12:00 noon firefighters were dispatched for a vehicle on fire in the vicinity of Duke and German streets at the 4 way stop.

Engine 3 arrived on scene in minutes and found a working vehicle fire. Washington County Engine 13 also responded. Firefighters quickly extinquished the fire.

Fortunately, no one was injured.  The exact cause of the fire is not known.

Officers from the Shepherdstown Police Deparment, Shepherd College Police, and Jefferson County Sheriff's department directed traffic which was quite heavy given the mid-day rush of college traffic.
