The Shepherdstown Fire Department Brush, Tanker, and Rescue Engine responded to the large brush fire in Berkeley county on Monday, March 9 in the area of Hedgesville. The fire is reported to have been app. 20 acres. Please check with local news agencies for more information. Martinsburg Journal NBC 25 |

Warm Day Brings on Brush Fires |

Homeowners enjoying the warm day made it a busy one for the Shepherdstown Fire Department. Saturday, March 7 the S.F.D. responded to 5 brush fires within our first due area. The largest of the fires was app. 2.5 acres and the smallest was .5 acres. Medic 3 did transport one home owner to the hospital with first degree burns to the face. Please Remember:
- Brush can be burnt from 4pm to 7am ONLY. - It must be watched at ALL times while it is burning. - It is recommended to have a water hose near the fire. - Please call Jefferson County Dispatch at 304-725-8484 and inform them of the fire. |
