The Shepherdstown Fire Department was in the midst of a large fund raising event when the Jefferson County Dispatch center, dispatched Company 3 for a house fire on Kearneysville pike, just prior to the train bridge. Company 3 (Shepherdstown), Company 4 (Independent), and Company 60 (Baker Heights), were first alerts for the fire. Chief 3 added Company 2 (Citizens) for an engine to exercise RIT (Rapid Intervention Team) in case something went wrong. Rescue Engine 3 arrived on scene just after Engine 62 and advised a fire in the attic.

The Shepherdstown Fire Department, Independent Fire Company, and Citizens Fire Company responded to the initial dispatch for a two-story house, at the corner of Potomac and Ridge Rd, on fire. S.F.D. responded with Truck 3, Engine 3, and Rescue Engine 3, Engine 4-1, and Truck 2 also responded. Fire crews arrived on scene to find active fire in the kitchen area of the house, said Chief 3, Ross L. Morgan.

SFD Responds to Fugitive Search PDF Print E-mail

On Wednesday evening, September 9, SFD was called to the area of Luther Jones Road to assist law enforcement who were pursuing suspects fleeing apprehension.  Police attempted to apprehend the subjects in the parking lot of a night club on Charles Town Road when the subjects fled in their vehicle and later bailed on foot in a field on Luther Jones Road.  SFD Emergency Medical Services units were on standby near the scene ready to treat any injuries.  Rescue Engine 3 and CFC Truck 2 were called to the scene to provide lighting for the search.  ALS3 and Duty3 were also on scene to provide coordination from unified command and assist with efforts.  Numerous police agencies were involved in the search operation.
