The Shepherdstown Fire Department, Independent Fire Company, and Citizens Fire Company responded to the initial dispatch for a two-story house, at the corner of Potomac and Ridge Rd, on fire. S.F.D. responded with Truck 3, Engine 3, and Rescue Engine 3, Engine 4-1, and Truck 2 also responded. Fire crews arrived on scene to find active fire in the kitchen area of the house, said Chief 3, Ross L. Morgan.
The fire in the Kitchen was "knocked down" within minutes of arriving on scene. Fire crews began to search the rest of the structure for any sign of fire. Fire was found in the walls by fire crews. Chief 3 then called for additional manpower and Engine companies from Berkeley County and Washington County to assist with the blaze. One firefighter from Independent (Co. 4) was injured in the fire. He was treated on the scene and later taken to JMH for heat related issues. Fire personnel were on the scene for over three hours. Martinsburg Journal |
